Customer messaging platform with AI (Fin)
Intercom is a widely used customer messaging platform featuring live chat, a help center, and their AI support bot Fin. It is a powerful, seat-priced suite for support teams — but it is built around the inbox, not around onboarding and supporting your SaaS users in their own language.
If you are searching for an Intercom alternative, the question usually comes down to two things: cost and purpose. Intercom is priced per seat and built around a shared inbox for support agents, so the bill grows as your team grows, and the product is optimised for resolving tickets rather than helping a first-time user find the right feature or product. For a marketing site, an online store, or a multilingual audience, that is a lot of platform — and a lot of cost — for a job it was not designed to do.
Companin takes the opposite approach. It is a customer success assistant that understands a user’s free-text question, answers it from your own content, and walks them to the right feature — automatically, in whichever of 14 languages they are browsing in. There is no inbox to staff and no per-seat licence: you install one script tag, point it at your site, and it is live in minutes. Pricing scales with conversation volume, not headcount.
For teams comparing an Intercom vs chatbot setup for a website, the practical difference is that Companin is multilingual on every plan, EU-hosted and GDPR-compliant by design, and focused on user onboarding and self-service rather than ticket deflection. Intercom remains the better fit if your primary need is a full support suite with a shared agent inbox; Companin is the better fit if your goal is to help users and customers help themselves, in their language, the moment they land.

Intercom prices per seat, and its AI agent Fin is billed per resolution on top of seat costs — so spend climbs with both team size and conversation volume, and multilingual support has historically sat on higher tiers. Companin has a genuinely free tier with no credit card required, then usage-based pricing tied to conversation volume rather than the number of agents. You are not penalised for adding teammates, and all 14 languages are included on every plan rather than gated behind an enterprise add-on. For most small and mid-sized sites, that makes Companin substantially cheaper to run at the same level of coverage.
Intercom is a strong choice for support teams working a shared inbox. Companin is built to onboard and support every user instantly — in their own language, with a one-line install.
