The Problem

"Where is my order?" is the most common question any online store receives. It's repetitive, it's predictable, and it consumes an enormous share of support time — yet every answer is sitting right there in Shopify, one lookup away.

Most chat widgets can't reach it. They answer questions from a knowledge base, but order status isn't in a knowledge base — it's live data, unique to each customer and each order. So the question gets escalated to a human who copies an order number, opens the Shopify admin, finds the tracking link, and pastes it back. Hundreds of times a week.

For a cross-border store, it's worse: the customer asking is often in another language and another time zone, waiting hours for an answer your system already has.

What You Get

Order lookup inside the conversation. A visitor asks about their order. The assistant asks for the order number and the email on file, verifies them against Shopify, and returns the current status — fulfillment state, tracking number, carrier, and estimated delivery — without a human touching it.

Tracking links, not just words. When a tracking number exists, the assistant returns the live carrier tracking link, so the customer goes straight from question to package location.

Answers in the visitor's language. The order status — "shipped," "out for delivery," "awaiting fulfillment" — is presented in the same language the visitor is already chatting in. A German customer gets a German answer to a question your Shopify admin only stores in English.

Graceful handoff when it's not routine. If the lookup reveals a problem — a delayed shipment, a failed delivery, a refund in progress — the assistant can route the conversation to a human with the order context already attached, instead of leaving the customer to re-explain everything.

Why This Matters

It deflects the highest-volume question there is. Order-status inquiries are the largest single category of e-commerce support contacts. Automating them is the fastest, most visible win a store can get from an assistant — and it shows up directly in your deflection rate.

It's the ROI a merchant feels immediately. A Shopify merchant evaluating Companin doesn't need a long trial to see the value here. "It answers WISMO tickets automatically" is a one-sentence pitch that closes deals in the app store.

It's available around the clock, in every language. The question doesn't wait for business hours, and neither should the answer. For cross-border stores, a 24/7 multilingual order-status answer is exactly the gap human support can't fill cost-effectively.

It keeps customers on your site. Instead of telling customers to email support and wait, the answer happens in the widget, in the moment — which is both a better experience and one fewer reason for the customer to lose confidence in the purchase.

How It Works

The merchant connects their store during the Shopify app install — the same OAuth flow that authorizes the widget also grants read access to order and fulfillment data. No separate setup.

When a visitor asks about an order, the assistant collects the order number and a verifying detail (the email on the order) before returning anything, so order information is only ever shown to someone who can prove they placed it. Lookups happen server-side against the Shopify API; order data is fetched on demand to answer the question, not stored alongside your knowledge base.

The assistant recognizes order-status intent automatically — "where's my package," "has my order shipped," "track my order," and the equivalents in every supported language — so the merchant doesn't have to script trigger phrases.

What This Replaces

The manual loop: customer asks, ticket is created, a human opens the Shopify admin, finds the order, copies the tracking link, and replies. The order-status email auto-responder that tells customers to "check your shipping confirmation email." Third-party order-tracking apps bolted onto the storefront as a separate page.

On the Roadmap

This feature is planned, and ships alongside the Companin Shopify app. When it lands:
